ART UP HIGH
Elevating Creativity. Elevating Community.
Transforming rooftops into cultural hubs in Prince William County
Under The Stars 2026

About The Project:
Art Up High is a bold rooftop arts activation and visual installation project led by Edutainment Productions Inc. that transforms underutilized rooftops and elevated public spaces into immersive, community-powered art destinations.
Through rooftop murals, live painting events, artist performances, and curated vendor showcases, this project elevates the voices of underrepresented artists while reimagining public space as an accessible cultural hub.
The activation will feature original large-scale works by 10+ local visual artists, offer paid creative mentorship and participation opportunities for 15–20 youth artists, and draw 500+ residents to engage with the arts in fresh, unexpected ways.

Why it Matters
Why Rooftops? Why Now?
1. Reimagining What a Venue Can Be
Prince William County is filled with creativity;
but too often, the spaces that showcase it are limited, startup creative organizations face systemic barriers of entry, and the ultimate result is that many families are forced to drive all the way to DC or closer neighboring cities for an exciting night out.
Rooftops offer an unexpected solution.
What might look like an ordinary parking structure suddenly becomes a skyline-view canvas for performances, storytelling, and public art.
By transforming this overlooked space into a cultural gathering point, we’re proving that the arts don’t require marble theaters or massive budgets. They require imagination, community, and a place to belong.
2. Creating Access Where It Matters Most
For many young people and families in our county, high-quality arts experiences feel far away: typically demanding a lengthy drive to D.C., Arlington, or Alexandria. Art Up High brings the magic home.
A rooftop becomes a place where youth performers can earn real pay, community members can experience free live arts, and families can enjoy creative connection without leaving their neighborhood.
It’s public, it’s welcoming, and it sends a powerful message: you deserve beautiful things right where you live.

3. A Catalyst for Long-Term Cultural Growth
This project is more than an event: it’s the first chapter of a cultural shift. The artists we mentor today become tomorrow’s leaders.
The venue partnerships we forge now create a foundation for future rooftop activations across the DMV. The community that gathers here grows stronger, more connected, and more invested in the arts as essential infrastructure.
Art Up High plants seeds for a thriving creative ecosystem: one that benefits local artists, cultural organizations, businesses, and residents for years to come.
4. A Model for Creative Placemaking
Rooftop art programming is exceedingly rare in the Mid-Atlantic region. This positions Prince William County perfectly to pioneer a new cultural identity: first regionally, then nationally and beyond.
By turning elevated public space into a destination for creativity, Art Up High demonstrates what’s possible when we rethink the way we use shared infrastructure.
It’s a forward-thinking model that merges arts, placemaking, and community wellness: all while offering a beautiful, shareable, and unforgettable experience under the stars.

Rooted in Community.
Built for Everyone.
At its heart, Art Up High is about belonging. It’s about reclaiming space, elevating voices, and giving the entire county a reason to gather with pride.
From youth artists and local small businesses to families, creatives, and visitors, this rooftop becomes a shared landmark for joy, memory-making, and connection.
It’s art for the people, by the people: lifted high enough for all to see.

FAQ's
Q: When and where is the event?
A: The first Art Up High rooftop event is scheduled for Summer 2026 on the rooftop of a selected parking garage in Prince William County. Detailed venue and date will be announced in early 2026.
Q: Is the event free to attend?
A: Yes — the event is planned as free or low-cost to ensure broad access for all residents of PWC. Some premium experiences (VIP viewing, sponsor activations) may have a fee.
Q: What happens in case of inclement weather?
A: The event is designed for open-air rooftop environment. In the event of severe weather, we will provide real-time updates via social media, website, and email. Contingency plans (e.g., partial cover, alternate indoor space) are budgeted into the production plan.
Q: Is the rooftop accessible for people with mobility needs?
A: Absolutely. The venue will comply with ADA standards. Elevators/ramps will be provided, as will accessible restrooms and dedicated seating zones. Our goal is inclusive access for all ages and abilities.
Q: How do youth or emerging artists get involved?
A: We invite youth (ages ___) and emerging local artists to apply for paid performance or installation opportunities. Check the “Get Involved” section and complete the application form when open. Early applicants get priority in our pre-launch phase.
Q: Can local businesses or food vendors participate?
A: Yes. We will host a vendor village as part of the rooftop experience. Local businesses, food trucks, cultural makers, and entrepreneurs may apply for vendor space. Early partners will receive preferential rates and promotional inclusion.
Q: Why a rooftop?
A: Rooftops are under-utilised public spaces offering panoramic views, fresh perspective, and neutral grounds for inclusive gatherings. This format helps break down traditional venue barriers and invites new audiences into the arts.
Q: How will this impact the community long-term?
A: This activation is first in a planned series across the DMV. Funds and partnerships established here will build a sustainable ecosystem: youth mentorship, artist pipelines, venue networks, and community traditions.
Q: How can I partner or sponsor?
