Program Purpose

Edutainment’s Arts News Magazine is more than a publication. It is a strategic cultural tool designed to strengthen the arts ecosystem while building real-world professional opportunities for emerging creatives.

 

The magazine supports our Ascension philosophy by doing three major things:

  1. Educating the public on arts, culture, and community impact

  2. Amplifying local artists and organizations with credibility and visibility

  3. Creating workforce experience for college students and emerging professionals

Arts News Magazine's 2026 relaunch will feature:

  • Artist interviews

  • Community arts spotlights

  • Arts education stories

  • Youth creative features

  • Arts advocacy reporting

  • Event coverage

  • Cultural history and commentary

  • “Jobs You Didn’t Know Were Jobs” career features

  • Sponsor highlights (local businesses, arts partners)

Workforce Development & College Student Portfolio Building

The magazine will become a training and portfolio pipeline for college students in fields such as:

  • Journalism

  • Marketing and communications

  • Graphic design

  • Photography

  • Videography

  • Social media management

  • Editing and publishing

  • Business management

  • Advertising sales

  • Arts administration

  • Public relations

 

Students will gain:

  • Published bylines

  • Editorial experience

  • Layout and design credits

  • Professional references

  • A portfolio of work that directly supports career readiness

Sustainability and Paid Opportunity Plan

Edutainment’s long-term goal is for the magazine to become financially sustainable through:

  • Paid advertising from local businesses

  • Sponsored features

  • Arts organization ad placements

  • Community partner subscriptions (digital and print)

  • Event-based distribution

  • Special editions aligned with major campaigns

 

Once sustainability is achieved, the magazine becomes a pathway for:

  • Paid student internships

  • Paid editorial roles

  • Paid design and photography contracts

  • Youth-to-college creative workforce ladders

Arts News Magazine strengthens the local arts ecosystem by increasing visibility, cultural awareness, and community investment in the arts. Funding support will help expand production capacity, develop student workforce opportunities, and establish the magazine as a sustainable cultural platform that serves both artists and the broader public.
